Hong Kong-Macau Adventure: The Venetian Hotel

This is the twenty-sixth part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

The Venetian Hotel Macau is a luxury hotel and casino resort in the Cotai area. It is modeled on its sister casino resort The Venetian Las Vegas and is the 6th largest building in the world by floor area. It is the largest casino in the world and the largest single structure hotel building in Asia. (Wikipedia)

When we got inside, we were just awe-strucked and speechless. The lobby alone is huge and amazing. It was like we were transported in another world. Anyway, we headed on to the Grand Canal Shoppes but before we got there, we just got really lost. But it was a pleasantly good “getting lost” because there was just a lot to see in the hotel.

Anyway, when we finally found the Grand Canal Shoppes, we were awe-strucked again. It was a jaw dropping, beautiful, amazing area. It features a roof which looks like the sky and it makes you look like you’re on the outside. Another feature is a Gondola Ride which goes along the area. It costs 118MOP/ride so we were unable to try it. We just watched the gondola go by and some of the boatman are singing while rowing the gondola which is nice.

We saw a Lord Stow's Bakery inside the Hotel so we decided to try out the egg tart again and compare it to the one we tried in Koi Kei Bakery. It also costs 8hkd and it was also very delicious. The same as the one in Koi Kei Bakery.

After exploring the area, we headed on the fastfood strip of the hotel for lunch. We ate at this Japanese restaurant area. We ordered the Tepanyaki Udon with Beef meal which costs 90hkd and an extra rice for our beef jerky. It was an ok meal, the beef jerky is delicious.

After our lunch, we decided to go back to Hong Kong. We rode the shuttle of Venetian Hotel to the Taipa Terminal to ride the Cotai Jet which would dock in Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal located at Sheun Wan, Hong Kong Island. The ride costs 149hkd per person and it lasted for 1 hour.

And that ends our Macau tour! Our next activity is shopping galore! We started at IFC Mall.

Hong Kong-Macau Adventure: City of Dreams Hotel

This is the twenty-fifth part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

From the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, there is an area in the front which is the parking lot of the shuttle/bus of different hotels in Macau. All of these are entirely free. And the best part is that even if you’re not staying in their hotel, it’s ok to ride the bus. So we tried the shuttle of City of Dreams to go there which is really nice because we did not have to spend a cent for it.

City of Dreams is a casino hotel which is located in the Cotai reclamation area in Macau. It is located directly opposite the Venetian Macau Hotel which is another popular hotel in Cotai, Macau. It has four towers, over 200 shopping facilities, and 550 gaming tables. (Wikipedia)

The popular entertainment at the City of Dreams is the House of Dancing Water. It is an action packed and unique water based show which features synchronized swimming and lots and lots of effects. We really wanted to watch this because youtube videos of the show are amazing, unfortunately, it costs a whopping 580hkd to 1,480hkd depending on the seats you would be reserving. So, yup, it is a pass for us, maybe next time.

Another show featured is the Dragon Treasure Show which costs 30MOP so we also did not watch it. We were also not able to explore the whole of City of Dreams because it was huge.

After that, we headed on to The Venetian Hotel which is just opposite the City of Dreams.

Hong Kong-Macau Adventure: Wynn Hotel

This is the twenty-fourth part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

After exploring the Grand Lisboa we headed towards the Wynn Hotel. We saw an underground passageway that would lead to the Wynn Hotel. We thought we were lost at first because the underground passageway is huge! It has a parking area and a lot of level. But, eventually, we found our way.

Wynn Hotel in Macau is a luxury integrated resort located in Macau Peninsula. It offers a deluxe hotel with restaurants, designer shops, spa, and a “Performance Lake”. It has 600 rooms and suites, 501 table games plus 475 slot machines, 5 restaurants, swimming pool, spa, salon, and bar areas (Wikipedia).

But the most popular tourist spot in this hotel is the Tree of Prosperity Show/Dragon of Fortune Show. It runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with a 30 minute interval between each show. The best part is, it is free! We were able to watch the Dragon of Fortune Show and we were surprisingly amazed! We thought it was just a simple show but it was not. It was a show with a huge mechanical golden dragon emerging from a dome-liked structure and then it turns around. It is complete with lights, smoke effects, and music. One word, it was just amazing!

We were not able to wait for the Tree of Prosperity Show because we were in a hurry so we just opted to take the free shuttle of the hotel to go back to the Outer Ferry Harbour Terminal where we took the free shuttle of the City of Dreams Hotel, which is our next hotel tour!

Hong Kong-Macau Adventure: Grand Lisboa Hotel

This is the twenty-third part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

After the Senado Square, we walked towards the Grand Lisboa Hotel to start our hotel tripping/touring. It is not a problem to locate Grand Lisboa because it is a huge towering structure shaped like a lotus which is impossible to overlook. The hotel offers a total of 430 rooms which are luxuriously appointed and designed in a manner which reflects elegance.

Tourists can explore the lobby area which has a huge chandelier and different golden pieces on display. You could also go in the casino area but, take note; you cannot take any pictures inside. We were so amazed by everything because this was our first time to see a casino this huge and this luxurious. Also, watch out for those giving out free food and tea in the casino area.

Hong Kong-Macau Adventure: Ruins of St. Paul's

This is the twenty-second part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

The Ruins of St. Paul’s (St. Paul Ruins) is a 17th-century Portuguese cathedral dedicated to St. Paul the apostle and was destroyed by a fire in 1835. Now, the ruins is one of Macau’s most famous landmarks and is part of the Historic Centre of Macau. The only thing that remains is the façade and the stairway.

There were so many people at the time that we were there so we were not able to take pictures without any people in the background but still the ruins is amazing. The façade has an intricate detail and is very beautiful.

Anyway, after that we bought some magnets which cost a total of 86hkd. And then we bought some beef jerky which costs 25hkd and 43hkd. We planned to eat it for lunch but unfortunately, we did not find any area where to eat it. Another thing, the storeowners and sellers are not that good with English so we had a bit of a hard time buying things which was a bit funny.

After that, we headed on foot to Grand Lisboa Hotel which is the starting point of our hotel tripping/touring.

This is the twenty-first part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

From the Fisherman’s Wharf, you can ride bus 3A to go to Senado Square. There is no octopus card in Macau , instead they have this coin slot near the driver’s seat where you would have to place your payment there. You need to have the exact amount because no one would give you any change. The bus fare from Fisherman’s Wharf to Senado Square is 3.2hkd so we placed 7hkd to the slot. A bit of an advice, if you’re standing in the bus, hold on for dear life! Haha the bus drivers in Macau are crazy drivers! It is also a bit confusing to know where to go down, although there is a screen on the front of the bus that shows where the next stop would be. We only found out that we were already in the bus stop of Senado Square because we saw the place.

Once we got down, we saw a Koi Kei Bakery. This is a very famous bakery in Macau which sells amazing Portuguese Egg Tart. It costs 8hkd per tart. They also sell a variety of baked products as well as different beef jerky. And they were right about it being the best egg tart, it was delicious! No, it was not just delicious, it was amazingly delicious!

Anyway, Senado Square or Largo de Senado is a paved area with cobblestone streets which is in the center of the former Portuguese colony of Macau. Senado Square is part of the “Historic Centre of Macau” which covers 8 squares and 22 buildings in Macau. The Historic Centre of Macau is included in the UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites.

The square has many shops and restaurants (even a McDonalds) and the main streets branched off to other smaller streets and alleys that still have shops and restaurants. There are different road signs as well which leads to the St. Paul Ruins. The alleyway near St. Paul Ruins is lined with so many stores that sell different beef jerky. And the best part is that all of them give out free tastes. So by the time you got to the ruins, you’re very full from delicious beef jerky. Kulang na lang ay kanin haha.
