Hong Kong-Macau Adventure: Star Ferry Ride & Central Station

This is the third part of our 4-days-3-nights Hong Kong-Macau Adventure.

Our first thing to do in HK is to ride the Star Ferry going to Central (Hong Kong Island) passing through the famous Victoria Harbour. This is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Hong Kong and one of the cheapest ways to go to and from Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.

From the Golden Crown Court, we just walked towards the Star Ferry Pier. Google maps is a huge, huge help in this trip. On the way to the Star Ferry, we were able to pass by Chungking Mansion, The Peninsula, Hong Kong Space Museum, Hong Kong Cultural Center, and 1881 Heritage. We didn’t go in the Space Museum anymore due to lack of time but we were able to take a handful of photos in the 1881 Heritage. Walking around Tsim Sha Tsui is again very easy due to the signs found all around pointing you to the direction you want to go to. One thing to remember though, while crossing the streets, always, always remember that in HK, they have right-hand driving so look both ways of the street first just to be safe.

Walking to the Pier is easy and there were a lot of things to see all around. We paid 4hkd for the ferry ride using the Octopus Card (again, very convenient!) and waited for around 10 minutes for the ferry to arrive. We chose to ride at the top of the ferry to see the views better. And, man, are the views great! In the ferry, you would get to see the HK Skyline and buildings all around Hong Kong Island. It was very beautiful! The ferry ride lasted around 15-20 minutes and then we’re at Central Pier already.

From Central Pier, we went up a bridgeway to get to Central MTR Station. It’s around a 15-20 minute walk, just follow the signs on the bridgeway. Our original plan is to ride the Ding Ding Tram and alight at Admiralty area to ride the bus going to Ocean Park. But we were surprised to see that there were a lot of people in the Central area this time. What’s even more surprising is all of these crowds are Filipinos! It’s like a mini reunion of Pinoys in Hong Kong haha. There were so many and it was so crowded we felt like we were in Divisoria at that time. There was even a Jollibee store nearby. We were not able to ride the tram because the line was so long and our time was limited so we just rode the MTR going to Admiralty Station from Central. MTR’s in Hong Kong is very, very easy to understand. We were able to download an app from Apple Store showing all the lines of the MTR as well as the connections within. Aided with that and with the English signs all around, we found our way eventually to Admiralty MTR Station.
