Ocean Park Hong Kong is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park, and amusement park mashed up into one theme park. It is located in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan in the Southern District of Hong Kong. It is larger than Disneyland and some says it is better than Disneyland (But I am a Disney kid by heart, so it’s still Disneyland for me!)
HOW TO GET TO OCEAN PARK:
If you are coming from Tsim Sha Tsui, ride the MTR going to Admiralty station and get off from there. Locate the Exit B of the station (make use of their very helpful signages all around). Get out from there and then you will see the Bus Station with the Citybus 629 going to Ocean Park. Fare is 10.60hkd/person. You can use the Octopus Card.
During our time, we went there on a Sunday. BIG MISTAKE! In the bus station there were already a lot of people lining up. Ay sorry, hindi pala lining up, ang mga intsik eh di marunong magsi-pila. Tinagalog namin to para di nila maintindihan haha. Sumisingit talaga sila ng bongga! Before riding the bus, there is a little cart there that sells water, rain coat, etc. Buy water there since it is only 6hkd compared to the 20hkd water in Ocean Park. Anyway, the bus ride lasted for around 30 minutes and then we were at Ocean Park! Luckily, we already bought the tickets from the CTS counter so we did not have to fall in line at their very long queues.
Ocean Park is divided into two areas, The Waterfront Station and The Summit Station. To get to and from these areas, you could either ride the Cable Car or ride the Ocean Express Summit Train. The Waterfront Station is where the “kids” rides are as well as majority of the attractions such as the Grand Aquarium, The Aqua City Lagoon, The Panda Village, and a lot more. The Summit Station is where the more thrilling and adventurous rides are located such as the famous Hair Raiser and Mine Train.
Once you enter Ocean Park, don’t forget to get the maps of the theme park for free. And don’t forget to check if it’s in English or Chinese haha.
We decided to go first to the Summit Station and work our way back to the entrance. We opted to ride the Cable Car first. The line was long! It took us around 1 hour before we were able to ride it. Anyway, the Cable Car was scary! Really scary, especially for people like us who are very much afraid of heights. There were drops that were very high, almost reaching a 90 degree angle. But the view was amazing, you would just see miles and miles of ocean and mountains all around. But still, it was a freaky cable car. The ride lasted for around 15-20 minutes and then we finally reached the Summit Station.
Up next, The Summit Station area of Ocean Park!
