After the cable car ride, we decided to walk around a bit and focus on the shows rather than the rides since we’re not really “rides” persons. By the way, before going to Ocean Park, check out the shows schedules on their website so you could allot some time for it.
The Summit Station is divided into different areas:
POLAR ADVENTURE:
This was our first destination. The different areas you could go to in here are the North Pole Encounter, Arctic Fox Den, South Pole Spectacular, and the Arctic Blast. Due to time constraints and really long queues, we were only able to go inside the North Pole Encounter.
In the North Pole Encounter, you would be able to see different kinds of seals and sea lions. There is also a show where they feed the seals. There are also 2 walrus here which are huge, and during the shows they presented the Snowy Owl. Again, due to so many people inside, we were not able to really explore the area. It was a bit disappointing that we weren’t able to really see the walrus, only a splatted picture of it haha. Uulitin namin, bastos ang mga intsik kahit mga bata, nanunulak talaga sila, grr!
After the show, we were trying to look for a restaurant to have lunch at but there were none so we just opted to buy a hotdog for 30hkd which was too expensive for just a simple, nothing-special-about-it hotdog but it did curb our appetite a bit.
THRILL MOUNTAIN:
As the name implies, this is where you would find some of the more thrilling/adventurous rides of Ocean Park. These are the Hair Raiser, Whirly Bird, Bumper Blaster, Rev Booster, The Flash, and Bungee Trampoline.
We were only able to ride the Whirly Bird before we returned to the Waterfront Station and it was so much fun! We were scared at first, but then we were able to conquer our fear so hooray for us! The other rides we were not able to try mainly because of fear, and because of long lines everywhere! The waiting time was always around 45-60 minutes each ride.
RAINFOREST:
We really, really wanted to try out The Rapids ride but the line was so long! Again, let me stress it out, do not go here on a weekend! Another attraction located here is the expedition trail which again, we were not able to go to.
MARINE WORLD:
The following things to visit here are: Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium-Yantze Exploration, Ocean Theatre, Pacific Pier, Sea Jelly Spectacular, Ocean Park Tower, Garden of Joy, The Abyss, Crazy Galleon, The Dragon, Eagle, Ferris Wheel, and Flying Swing.
We were only able to watch the show at Ocean Theatre but again, we got there 30 minutes before the show and there were already a lot of people. You really have to squeeze in between to get to the seats. The show featured some dolphins and sea lions. I actually liked the show in Singapore Ocean Park better but I guess it was still ok here. From our seats at the Ocean Theatre, we have an amazing view of the Abyss, Eagle, and the Ferris Wheel so we didn’t go there anymore.
After the show, we were so hungry since we still haven’t had a decent lunch, so we bought some Pork Buns at 43hkd total. It was nothing special.
ADVENTURE LAND:
This is where the Mine Train, Space Wheel, Raging River, and the famous long and high escalators are located. We went there mainly for the escalators because we were curious on how long they are haha. We wanted to try the Mine Train but again time constraints didn’t allow us to do so (and fear, especially fear!). I tried the Grilled Squid being sold here for 33hkd. It was yummy at first but then it was so huge that eventually you would get tired of the taste, and from then on, everytime you smell it, you would get a bit barfy. Happened to me. Haha.
Before going back to the Waterfront Station, we decided to fall in line in the Ocean Park Tower. It offers a panoramic 360degree view of the whole Ocean Park which was amazing. The line was long but it was worth it. After that, this is where we tried the Whirly Bird ride.
Next up, The Waterfront Station of Ocean Park!
