Our second day in Hong Kong started out early. We woke up at around 6:30 am, prepared for the day, and were able to go out at around 7:30 am. Since our first itinerary was to go to Ngong Ping Village and ride the Cable Car and the opening of the Cable Car was still at 9:00 am, we decided to just walk around Tsim Sha Tsui and look for a store to eat breakfast. Morning walk at TST is very peaceful since there are still not that many people and the stores are still closed. TST is just so very authentically Chinese with all the huge signboards with Chinese characters and building just going very high, it was a truly nice experience to walk around it.
Anyway, we decided to just have breakfast at McDo to be safe haha. We ordered the Hot Dog Sausage Breakfast Meal which consists of 1 piece of sausage, 1 piece of egg, 2 pieces Muffin, 2 pieces Pancakes, and 1 piece Hashbrown with drinks which costs only 32hkd. Again, not bad at all. I loved the Sausage! It was very tasty and yummy. Too bad it’s not available here in the Philippines.
After our breakfast meal, we walked around a bit to find a store where we could buy food to bring inside Disneyland since the food there is very expensive. We were able to go to Burger King and KFC but couldn’t decide what to bring so we just opted not to buy anything. We also went to the CTS store located in TST to ask for a food voucher in Disneyland but unfortunately, they only give it out if you also buy entrance tickets from them. Anyway, we just opted to go to Ngong Ping already.
How to go to Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car:
- Ride the MTR Station from Tsim Sha Tsui (Tseun Wan Line or the Red Line) and get off at Lai King Interchange
- From there, just across is the Tung Chung Line. Ride that line and alight at Tung Chung Station
- Exit at Exit B
- You would then see the City Gate Outlet Mall, beside it is the entrance going to the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car Ride
We had no problem going there mostly due to the video walkthrough of prEttyNDistress again and due to the number of signs pointing you to the right direction. Need I say it again, HK is a very tourist-friendly place.
We got there before the opening time so we waited for around 30 minutes to board the cable car. We got inside a car with 1 Chinese family and a couple from the US.
The ride was long. I was actually surprised at how long it was. But it was an amazing ride. Way better and way safer than the one in Ocean Park. Even better than the cable car ride I’ve experienced in Singapore. It offers a great view of the whole Lantau Island even the Hong Kong International Airport is seen from up the cable car. The car was big and it was very stable, you wouldn’t even feel it rock against the wind. We really enjoyed the ride and we became like little kids again, especially when we saw the Giant Buddha from a distance. I think the ride took about almost 1 hour so it was really worth it.
When we arrived at Ngong Ping Village, there were still a few people only so it was a very peaceful walk and exploring. We actually enjoyed it here more than the Ocean Park. It was just a serene, quiet place perfect for picture taking and walking. It was cold during that time but not foggy so as to obscure the view all around.
We didn’t go up all the steps going to the Giant Buddha but we took a lot of pictures. There are still so many things to see in Ngong Ping Village but again time constraints didn’t allow us to explore all. We just went all the way to the Giant Buddha and then back to buy souvenirs at their store. We even got a free picture so yehey! Our souvenirs totaled to 180hkd. After that we headed back on the Cable Car, we got the car all by ourselves. When we got back, there was already a long line to the cable car so it was very fortunate that we got there early.
We decided to have our lunch at Citygate Outlets Mall so we don’t have to buy food at Disneyland. After looking around, we had lunch at Pepper Lunch. One meal costs 45hkd. We also ordered Coke costing 26hkd and juice which is at 28hkd. We also bought water at 22hkd to bring to Disneyland. The Pepper Lunch in HK is the same as that in the Philippines so nothing special.
After that, we’re ready to go to Hong Kong Disneyland!

Ngong Ping 360 Souvenirs: 180hkd
