The Ultimate Kuala Lumpur-Singapore Vacation Leave: New York at USS

This is the twenty-fourth part of our 6-days-5-nights Ultimate KL-Singapore Vacation Leave.

Welcome New York!

After all those adventurous and thrilling rides, we found ourselves in a more peaceful and quiet place, and the last place to visit for us, the New York area of USS! Strolling along the sidewalks of the area, you would feel that you're really in New York. From the impressive city skylines, to classic landmarks, to Sesame street characters, and amazing bricked building facades, this sets the scenes for big city fun.
Beautiful buildings all around

Lights, Camera, Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg
This is like a showroom of incredible special effects that turns an empty soundstage into a major hurricane hitting New York City. We weren't able to go inside this ride because the opening time did not coincide with our time. Too bad though, it sounds fun.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase
You get to go on a space mission ride with Elmo and Super Grover to stop Macaroni the Merciless in his evil plot. Sounds like a kid's ride.

KT’s Grill
This is a pub favorite featuring traditional Irish-American grill foods.

Loui's NY Pizza Parlor
A must-stop eatery for those who want to try an Original NY Pizza Slice and other Italian favourites.

Breakfast with Sesame Street characters
If you have the extra money, and you're with your family with kids, this is a must try. You can have breakfast buffet with the characters of Sesame Street. A bit pricey though, but probably worth it for you children.

Big Bird's Emporium
Said to be the biggest Sesame Street store in Singapore featuring a lot of Sesame Street themed merchandise.

Street Entertainment and Meet and Greet
You could either catch the Rockafellas or the Sesame Street Stage Shows. Unfortunately, we didn't catch any. If you're lucky, you could also meet and greet the Sesame Street characters.

After exploring all of USS, we went to the rides we liked most and tried to ride it a second time. We were able to do that with Transformers so hurray! After that, we went to the Hollywood area stores and did a lot of pasalubong and souvenir shopping! And after a super fun-filled day at USS, we decided to leave at around 6:00pm so we could get to the cable car ride going around Mount Faber line. We got the ticket via Klook and it was very cheap. So click on for our slightly failed attempt at exploring Sentosa before the sun sets. Haha.

The Ultimate Kuala Lumpur-Singapore Vacation Leave: Sci-Fi City at USS

This is the twenty-third part of our 6-days-5-nights Ultimate KL-Singapore Vacation Leave.

Welcome to Sci-Fi City!

From the dinosaur times, to the Egyptian times, we now find ourselves in the futuristic time. This is the area where the famous duo roller coaster is located. And we had no plan of riding those 2 ever. Like the other areas, it has some food stalls located around, and of course, being that it's futuristic, it's the time of robots, so enter, Transformers!

Bumblebee!

Optimus Prime!

Some random food stall

Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON
This is the world's tallest duelling roller coaster! You choose a side, either Human or Cyclon. Choose your side – HUMAN or CYLON - as you engage in the ultimate intergalactic battle between good and evil on the world's tallest dueling roller coasters! It is themed after the TV series Battlestar Galactica, and it is an intertwined coaster which offers twists, turns, and drops. It looks as if the two coasters are racing towards each other which is really cool. One of the coaster features your feet hanging below you while the other is your regular roller coaster. If we weren't afraid of heights, we would have definitely tried this out!

Battlestar Galactica

Beautiful Twists and Turns

Not for us though!

Accelerator
This is like the old twirling teacup you see in pasts carnival, but instead, it features an intergalactic seat thingy. It was OK, a bit dizzying, but not that extreme.

Twisty Seats

Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle
This is, for us, the top 1 ride in USS! Luckily enough, the line was short so we were able to ride it twice! And the second time was still very fun and exciting! This is a 3D ride wherein you join Optimus and the rest of the Autobots fight out the Deceptions. And it's not just an ordinary 3D ride, you get to ride in a rollercoaster like seat and it feels like you're going on a roller coaster but it was all just 3D, and it was just amazing, we are at a lost for words! Definitely, DO NOT miss this ride!

Best. Ride. Ever!

StarBot Cafe
A futuristic restaurant serving a variety of Asian food ranging from Chicken Yakitori to Black Olive Fried Rice with Poached Salmon

StarBot Cafe

Galactica PX
Souvenir store featuring merchandise from Battlestar Galactica

Transformers Supply Vault
And of course, souvenir store featuring Transformers items.

Stardots
Serves molecular ice cream.

Meet and Greet
You either get to meet futuristic alien warriors and creatures, which we didn't meet, or you get to meet the...Autobots! In our case, one particular autobot, Optimus Prime!

Hello Optimus!

So that's the high tech Sci-Fi City, next in our adventure is New York!

The Ultimate Kuala Lumpur-Singapore Vacation Leave: Ancient Egypt at USS

This is the twenty-second part of our 6-days-5-nights Ultimate KL-Singapore Vacation Leave.

Welcome to Ancient Egypt!

From the lush green prehistory dinosaur era of the Lost World, we found ourselves being transported back to the 1930s Golden Age of Egypt. From the entrance showing huge Egyptian statues down to the little details in the area, there's a whole lot of picture taking opportunities there. It's really like you were transported to ancient Egypt! Just look at the pictures below, this was probably the place where I took the most pictures haha.

Anyway, we didn't ride there immediately, we opted to explore forwards first but then we returned to try out the different rides in the area.

Revenge of the Mummy
As I've mentioned previously, I hate heights and roller coaster. But for some unknown reason, we found ourselves falling in line in this ride. But again, first off, leave all your valuables and bags on the rented lockers near the entrance. Do not bring anything! It will get lost or damaged, I promise you. Anyway, as the sign in the entrance says, it's a high speed roller coaster but with a twist. It is an indoor roller coaster so it's plunged in darkness, but with a bit of a lights and sound effects wherein you would come face to face with warrior mummies, scarab beetles, and even, literally, burning fire. It is not for the faint of heart! We were glad we were able to try it and scratch if off our list, but we would not be doing it again. It's actually quite a painful ride because your arms and legs would bump against the coaster. Suffice it to say, it's probably worth it to try just once and then never again hahaha!

Revenge of the Mummy. Never again.

Treasure Hunters
Now this was a very boring ride, but perfect after riding Revenge of the Mummy haha. You ride a desert jeep going around an abandoned Egyptian excavation site. Very slow and very relaxing. Perfect for kids.

Treasure Hunters

What the inside looks like

Oasis Spice Cafe
It's the Egyptian-Themed restaurant in the area serving up Middle Eastern Specialties. There were a lot of people during our time and we didn't like Mid eastern food so we opted not to go inside.

Carter's Curiosities
The souvenir store of Ancient Egypt.

Carter's Curiosities

Don't forget to meet and greet the Egyptian Royalty. They put out a show every now and then. Anyway, after the action-packed Ancient Egypt, we ventured on the another action packed area, Sci-Fi City!

The Ultimate Kuala Lumpur-Singapore Vacation Leave: The Lost World at USS

This is the twenty-first part of our 6-days-5-nights Ultimate KL-Singapore Vacation Leave.

Welcome to Jurassic Park!

Moving on from Shrek land, we found ourselves surrounded by greeneries and prehistoric designs, and then rounding the corner, we found 2 large velociraptors around a mini fountain! Hello Lost World!! Anyway, this area is divided into two themed areas: Jurassic Park and WaterWorld. Unfortunately, when we were there, WaterWorld was closed for renovation, which was really sad because we were looking forward to watching the show in WaterWorld. WaterWorld, as stated in the USS website, is a live water show featuring death-defying stunts and awesome explosions. Oh well, maybe next time!

Meet and Greet in this area includes the infant triceratops named "Diane" and a rare encounter with Velociraptors which have escaped their cages, but yet again, unfortunately, we weren't able to see any of them. Anyway, there are also some mini food stalls all around the area so you could buy some beverages or freshen up a bit. The area is a bit cooler than other areas because there are a lot of trees giving shades from the sun.

Food stalls all around the area

Lush greeneries

Even the CR is Jurassic Park themed

Dino-Soarin'
We opted to ride this first because the line was really short haha. This is more of a kids ride where you ride a Pteranodon, and you can pilot it on your own, either you can soar it up high or down low. Kind of a slow ride but it was still fun.

Dino-Soarin'!

The Pteranodon up close

Canopy Flyer
One of our favorite rides in USS! It is like a mini roller coaster wherein you have your feet hanging as your soar over the Jurassic Park area. Not that scary, those with fear of heights can still ride this. Really really worth the wait if there's a long line.

Canopy Flyer

Soaring high above you

This is how it looks like

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure
Of course, you're USS experience would not be complete if you haven't tried this ride. It's one of the most popular rides in USS, hence, the very long waiting time. Fortunately for us, this was the only ride with a 40minute waiting line so we opted to just fall in line. Before going in, don't forget to buy some raincoats or anything to cover you up so you won't get too wet, and also, leave all your belongings in the lockers available near the entrance of the ride. You can rent it for a certain amount of time for a fee, of course. Anyway, as the name implies, this is a rapids ride, therefore, you will get wet. It just depends on what side you're sitting on if you will get more wet than your companion haha. You will be riding a circular raft like and it will take you through, an apparently, chaotic Jurassic Park wherein dinosaurs have escaped and is attacking people. Be prepared for the last part, it's the best part of the ride!

Do not miss this ride!

Fossil Fuels
This is like a mini restaurant where you can have a quick bite/merienda, which features hotdogs, sausages, and frozen drinks.

Jurassic Outfitters
The souvenir store in the area selling themed hats, shirts, keychains, ballpens, etc. etc.

The Dino-Store
Another souvenir store in the area.

Anyway, after trying out all the rides, we decided to get some lunch at the Discovery Food Court. Of course being that it is inside USS, it's a bit pricey, but still, stomach filling, so not bad. In the middle of the food court stands a tall Trex bone, kind of like the lobby in the Jurassic Park movie, very cool! I ordered Chicken Hainanese meal and J ordered the ordinary roasted chicken. Each meal comes with drinks and a plateful of veggies we have no plan on eating haha.

The Trex Bones in the middle

Foods!

After the slightly delicious lunch meal, we rested up a bit and then went onwards to the next area of the park: Ancient Egypt!
