The Ultimate Kuala Lumpur-Singapore Vacation Leave: First Glimpse of the Petronas Twin Towers

This is the fourth part of our 6-days-5-nights Ultimate KL-Singapore Vacation Leave.

First Glimpse of the Majestic Petronas Twin Towers

The plan was to maximize our first day in KL since we already arrived in the evening. So from the hotel, we hurriedly walked back towards KL Sentral Station to board the RapidKL Rail on the Kelana-Jaya Line to go to KLCC Station where the towers are located. Prepare your Touch & Go card! The KLCC Station is just 5 stations away from the KL Sentral, these are the lines you would be passing through: KL Sentral -> Pasar Seni Station -> Masjid Jamek Station -> Dang Wangi Station -> Kampung Baru Station -> KLCC Station. Fare is RM1.60/person. Once you get there, alight from the station, again follow the signs towards the KLCC mall called Suria KLCC. Or just follow the crowd.

Follow the crowd to get to the Suria KLCC mall!

Suria KLCC is a big mall. It can get confusing and there's a huge possibility you could get lost while looking for the exit towards the Petronas Towers. So just do what we did, we asked for directions, and we read the signs hahaha. So after a bit of a walking, we finally found the KLCC Park where from there you could already see the giant twin towers. Once you have exited towards the park, you would immediately see a lake called the Lake Symphony Water Fountain which has lights and water shows every half an hour from 7pm until 10pm and plays 2 songs/musical arrangement per show. Best part is, it's for free! We were able to watch one show and it was amazing. Top it up with the Petronas Towers in the background, it's a great place to stay and take pictures.

From where we exited from Suria KLCC, when you turn around, you would finally see the Petronas Twin Towers in all its glory. Although, there is an area where you could also see the towers, but these area is still OK nonetheless. So without further ado, everyone, the Petronas Twin Towers!

Pictures cannot do justice compared to when you see them personally

Such a majestic, amazing structure. It left us in awe!

The Petronas Twin Towers were declared the tallest building in the world from 1998 to 2004. It is 452 meters high (378.6meters if you don't include the antenna) and has 88 floors. A double decker skybridge at the 41st and 42nd floor connects the two towers. What's unique about this bridge is that it is not attached to the main structure, instead, it is designed to slide in and out of the towers to prevent it from breaking as the towers sway several feet in towards and away from each other during high winds.

The Skybridge

The skybridge is open to visitors but tickets are limited to about 1000 people per day only, and it is obtained on a first-come, first-served basis, no reservation (but when I checked their website today, you could actually book a ticket online which wasn't available before). A number of blogs we have read indicated that you have to come there very early in the morning to avail the tickets. Ticket prices are RM85 which is approximately 955php for adults 13-60 years old, but for children 3-12 years old, it's RM35 (395php), and for 61 years old and above, it's RM45 (505php). The Petronas Towers are open Tuesdays to Sundays (Closed every Monday) and visiting hours are from 9:00am to 9:00pm (but are closed between 1:00p to 2:30pm every Friday). The ticketing counter is located at the Conrouse Level of the Petronas Twin Towers. Due to financial and time constraints, we opted not to go up the Petronas Towers and just marvel at them from afar. And marvel, we did!

After a lot of pictures taken and a lot of jaws dropped from the wonders of the twin towers, we decided to finally get dinner at Jalan Alor, so read on to know how to get there and how was the food there!
