WHERE TO STAY IN SIRUMA:
I was lucky because I get to stay for free at the provincial hospital every time I go there hehe. But for those of you who just want to experience Siruma, you could rent a room at Angelica Resort. It’s a secluded resort located at Pinitan, Siruma, Camarines Sur. I was able to go there one time and the rooms look decent enough. The downside is that it has no restaurant so you would have to go to the market to buy some foods and ask the staff to cook it for you. Also, not a lot of people go there. When we went there, there were no guests at all. This is sad because it’s a really nice place, very relaxing, the view is amazing, the beach has fine sands. The manager of this place should really start to advertise this resort to other people otherwise it’s such a waste of a nice resort location. I tried to research it on the net and there were no websites available on it. By the way, if you do opt to stay here, they have a free boat ride for you from Tinambac going here so less the hassle of going to Siruma. When we went here, we travelled by foot which took us around 30-45 minutes walk and then we had to borrow a small bangka (boat) to cross around 1-2 miles of ocean haha, adventure!
Anyway, since Siruma is a coastal town, it is surrounded by a lot of beaches. These beaches are not as pretty as the ones in Boracay or Palawan, but still, being that it is untouched and untainted by tourists with beautiful almost-white sands; Siruma beaches are still pretty amazing.
MAGAYON BEACH
Magayon in Tagalog means “beautiful”. This is the beach where boats coming from and going to Tinambac usually docks. This is the first beach of Siruma I have ever seen and I was easily impressed. Although the locals said that not a lot of people swim here anymore since it is not that well-maintained, still it was a beautiful beach. The sands are almost white in color, the water is very clear. There are also some kuyas selling their fresh seafoods all around the place so explore more. This is very near the Town Proper.
AMURIS BEACH
This is the beach that is very near Siruma Hospital and the beach I frequent to a lot during my 10-months stint here. It is one of the most popular beaches in Siruma. It boasts of very clear waters, especially during the low tide, and almost-white sands. It also has some cottages in front which are for free, where you could set up a picnic or just hang out. Best part is, the beach is free. Be careful though, during the summer seasons, a lot of jellyfish are in this beach. There are also a lot of fishermen who sells their freshly-caught fishes at the shore, especially at morning, so be prepared to buy a lot of seafood goodies! There are also some rooms/huts all around the beaches. They told me that before, you could rent a room and stay there for the night. I don't know today though, what I'm certain of is that the local government is the owner of this place so I guess you would have to talk to them if you want to rent a room.
PINITAN BEACH
I was only able to go here once when a bunch of my staffs went here to buy a Carabao (yes, you read it right, a carabao haha) but the sands of Pinitan beach got imprinted in my mind. It was so fine, and it is literally, white sands. The sands and beach are better here compared to Amuris and Magayon. Downside is you have to hire a boat going here since it is around 30minutes away from the Town Proper. This is also the beach connected to the Angelica Resort previously mentioned.
CELL SITE/MINI MOUNTAIN
Not exactly a beach but it does offer a great view of Siruma and the beaches around. It’s about 30 minutes to 1 hour walk/hike from the hospital. It’s not that hard of a hike since there are some roads that are already cemented, but there are also some parts that are still rough roads. The mountain is not that high but still it offers a great view of Siruma. This is where we usually do our morning jogs. And then after, straight to Amuris Beach!
There are a lot more beaches and a lot more barangays to explore in Siruma but these are the only ones I was able to go to. Some of the beaches in other barangays are already too far from the town proper. Hopefully, next time when I do return, I'd be able to explore them all.
Up next, the town fiestas I was able to experience in my 10-months in Siruma!
